COVID Response V3

Objectives:

  • To make Windsor Montessori Preschool as safe as it can be forTamariki, Kaiako and whānau.

  • To ensure public health measures are in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (see Health NZ)

Windsor Montessori Preschool will operate as usual now that most Covid restrictions have been removed.

Five days of isolation are recommended for whānau, Kaiako and Tamariki who test positive for Covid-19.

As per WorkSafe expectations Windsor Montessori Preschool will:

  • follow Public Health guidance when carrying out a risk assessment;

  • engage effectively with workers and their representatives; and

  • regularly review the risk assessment as the Covid situation changes.

Ongoing Health and Safety mitigations

Basic Hygiene

Kaiako will maintain and model good hygiene. Tamariki and Kaiako will regularly wash and dry their hands thoroughly. Kaiako will support Tamariki to do this throughout the day as required.

Hand sanitiser will be readily available (out of reach of tamariki) for Kaiako use. Sneezing/coughing etiquette (into elbow) will be routinely practised, as will hand washing and drying technique

Staying Home if Sick:

Tamariki who presents with flu symptoms or COVID-19 symptoms should stay home and get tested. If the result comes back negative, and they are feeling well, they can return to preschool. Another test is advised within 48 hours.

Any whānau members who contract Covid 19 are advised to inform the preschool.

Call a doctor or Healthline on 0800 358 5453 for advice.

Kaiako are to observe tamariki on arrival, checking for symptoms. If there are those that are presenting as unwell, whānau or caregivers will be contacted to come and pick them up.

Ventilation

The doors will remain open on the deck where there will be plenty of ventilation and reduce the spread of Covid, flue and other respiratory illnesses. If the doors are shut and tamariki remain inside, a window will be opened to provide ventilation.

Vaccination

The best way to reduce the risk of severe illness from COVID-19 is to be up to date with vaccinations.

Physical distancing

Physical distancing is not required. However, distancing between kaiako and other adults is encouraged wherever possible. Drops-offs and pick-ups will take place outside on the deck.
