Statement of Intent:

Windsor Montessori Preschool operates a No Smoking/Vaping Policy in line with current legislation. The health and wellbeing of kaiako and tamariki is of the utmost importance at our preschool. Smoking/Vaping has proved to be a health risk, therefore the preschool operates a strict No Smoking/Vaping Policy within its premises and on the grounds. The policy applies to kaiako, parents/whānau/caregivers and visitors.

Purpose:

  • To outline our preschool’s approach to maintaining a smoke/vape free environment.

  • To provide tamariki with a healthy environment and promote healthy living and good habits for both tamariki and adults.

Procedures:

  • No one is allowed to smoke/vape on the preschool’s property, whether inside or outside of our premises.

  • Cigarette butts are not to be discarded on the preschool’s property, as these can easily be picked up by tamariki.

  • Kaiako are not permitted to smoke/vape on the preschool’s property.

  • If kaiako wish to smoke/vape during breaks, they must do so away from the preschool premises and must take steps to ensure their clothing does not carry an odour of smoke/vape within it upon their return. Kaiako will wash their hands before attending any tamaiti after smoking/vaping

  • A Smoke/Vape free sign is displayed in a prominent position at the preschool.
